How do I care for my brass candle holders ?

To preserve the shine of brass, use our dedicated cleaning kit, which includes a bottle of Mécano Louis XIII, a pair of gloves and a microfibre cloth. It restores the metal’s brilliance with ease. You can also let the brass develop a natural patina over time. To remove any wax drips, hot water is sufficient. Avoid leaving brass candle holders outdoors for extended periods: humidity and temperature changes may cause oxidation.

How do I care for my stainless-steel candle holders ?

To maintain the shine of stainless steel, we recommend our cleaning kit designed specifically for candle holders. It includes a bottle of Mécano Louis XIII, a pair of gloves and a microfibre cloth to revive the finish effortlessly. Stainless steel is robust and can be used outdoors. Avoid abrasive pads, wire scourers or corrosive products that could scratch or dull the steel.

Can the candles be used outdoors ?

Our candles are intended for indoor use. For outdoor settings, use a hurricane/lantern (photophore) to protect the flame from the wind.

How do I remove wax from a brass or stainless-steel candle holder, or from a lantern?

Let the wax harden, lift it off gently, then clean with hot water and dry carefully.

What if wax has dripped onto a wooden candle holder ?

As soon as wax drips on wood or brass, extinguish the candle to avoid damaging the tablecloth or surface. Wood is porous and harder to clean. Let the wax dry and harden, then remove the excess. Warm any residue with a hairdryer to lift it. A solvent such as turpentine may also help.

How can I fit a taper candle that’s slightly too wide or too thin?

If the base is too wide, shave a thin layer of wax from the bottom to fit. If it’s too thin, wrap a small piece of paper around the base to secure it. Our holders are designed with an internal thread pattern to help stabilise candles that are slightly undersized or oversized.

How can I optimise the burn of my taper candles ?

Refrigerate your taper candles for 30 minutes before lighting to slow the burn and reduce dripping, especially in summer. While burning, space candles at least 15 cm (6 in) apart and avoid drafts (air conditioning) or overheated rooms.

How do I seat a candle securely in your holders?

Hold the candle at the base and insert it with a gentle twisting motion.

Where are your candle holders and candles made ?

All our candle holders and candles are made in France by partner workshops selected for their artisanal expertise. Many of our partners hold the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label, a mark of excellence awarded to companies preserving exceptional artisanal and industrial know-how.

Why do you use stainless steel and brass?

Stainless steel retains its lustre over time, while brass develops a unique patina. These noble materials reflect our commitment to quality and elegance.

Do you work with French artisans ?

Yes. Every Maison Pechavy creation is crafted with French artisans specialised in metal, wood, glass or wax.

Are your candles 100% made in France ?

Yes. They are made in France from high-quality paraffin, free from harmful substances (GMOs, heavy metals, phthalates, CMR).

What materials do you use for boxes and packaging ?

We favour recyclable, responsibly sourced materials designed to last and be reused. All packaging is made in France with local partners. Cardboard is PEFC or FSC certified, guaranteeing sustainable forest management.

Why don’t the Danish candles drip?

Maison Pechavy’s Danish candles are made from pure stearin, a natural material derived from vegetable fats, denser and harder than traditional paraffin.This composition, combined with precise moulding, ensures a clean, even burn without dripping. Their elegant matte white finish makes them perfect for indoor use and long-lasting candlelit evenings.

Are your candle holders compatible with all candles ?

Depending on the model, our holders accommodate both Maison Pechavy taper candles (Ø 1 cm) and classic candles (Ø 2.2 cm). Some designs—such as GALET and FOLIES 1919—are reversible for dual use. For other models, we offer clever adapters that reduce the diameter of traditional chandeliers so you can use our taper candles in your favourite holders.

Do you offer gift sets?

Yes. We have elegant gift sets pairing our holders with taper candles in refined colour harmonies—perfect for the art of entertaining.

What is the diameter of a Maison Pechavy taper candle ?

Our taper candles measure about 1 cm at the base. They fit all our holders and can be used in classic chandeliers with our signature adapters.

Can Maison Pechavy holders take taper candles ?

Yes, our holders are designed for Maison Pechavy taper candles. Some models are reversible for both tapers and classic candles. For other designs, our adapters ensure perfect compatibility.
