These natural firelighters can be used to light any fire: fireplace, insert, wood-burning stove, barbecue and brazier. A single stick is enough to light a fire. Burning time is slow, from 8 to 10 minutes.

Use the top-down technique to light the fire. Arrange the large wood logs at the bottom of the firebox, then on top-perpendicularly- medium-sized wood logs, chestnut kindling and at the top a natural woodwool firelighter.

Preferably dry oak, hornbeam or beech (hardwood species), NF-certified, with a moisture content of less than 20% to achieve good performance and take full advantage of the fire's warmth. This type of high-performance wood log emits very little ash and few fine particles. It also has the advantage of reducing clogging of your heating appliances. You can also opt for compressed wood (compressed logs or densified wood), with just one compressed log in the firebox. These two carefully selected wood-energy categories have a high calorific value, offer good energy performance while remaining an environmentally-friendly heating method.

Your choice of firewood is essential, whether you have an open or closed fireplace. The type of heating appliance you use will also have an impact on energy efficiency. An open fireplace will obviously be less efficient.
